You Deserve Better Information About Treatment
Takes a Village is a nonprofit platform making substance abuse treatment radically transparent. No pay-to-rank. No hidden agendas.
The System Is Broken
Families in crisis deserve trustworthy information. Right now, the treatment industry makes that nearly impossible.
US substance abuse treatment industry with historically low transparency
With no verified review system for patients or families to rely on
FTC documented predatory patient brokering practices across the industry
SAMHSA's locator lacks reviews, cost data, and outcome tracking
What Takes a Village Does Differently
We believe transparency saves lives. Here's how we're building a system you can actually trust.
Verified Reviews
Authenticated-anonymous reviews from real patients. Identity is verified for accountability, but your privacy is always protected.
Radical Transparency
Every facility gets a transparency score based on verification, outcomes, and community feedback. No one can pay to game it.
Decentralized Data
Facility data lives on a knowledge graph that no single party controls. The information you see can't be altered or hidden.
AI-Powered Discovery
Describe your situation in plain language and get matched to treatment options that fit your needs, insurance, and location.
How It Works
Getting the right information should be simple. We make it three steps.
Search
Find facilities by location, insurance, treatment type, and more. Get results tailored to your situation.
Verify
See transparency scores, verified reviews, and real outcomes. Know what you're getting before you commit.
Connect
Find funding options and apply directly through the platform. We help remove barriers between you and treatment.
For Funders and Partners
The substance abuse treatment industry is a $42 billion market with over 17,000 facilities and no verified review system. The FTC has documented predatory patient brokering practices, and families in crisis have almost no reliable way to evaluate care quality.
Takes a Village is building a decentralized transparency platform powered by a verified knowledge graph, authenticated-anonymous identity, and AI-driven discovery. Facility data lives on infrastructure that no single party controls, and reviews come from people whose attendance has been verified.
We've identified and mapped three critical legal compliance gates — Anti-Kickback Statute, 42 CFR Part 2 healthcare privacy, and FinCEN money transmission — before writing a line of platform code. We believe legal diligence is a feature, not an afterthought.
We're seeking grant funding and early partners to build the technical platform. Every dollar goes directly to engineering the transparency layer that this industry needs.
